My boyfriend and I just made the best discovery! If you’re in the mood for something that’s both spicy and unique, then you MUST check-out this hybrid restaurant: Chinese Mirch, located on 120 Lexington Avenue, New York. It’s a Chinese restaurant that infuses Indian herbs and spices into a blend of Cantonese, Hakka and Szechuan style cooking. As their website claims, “the result is an explosion of flavor, sometimes bold and fiery, but always a delight to the senses.” My party started with the Spicy Okra (fried okra pods with smoky chili seasoning) and black pepper scallops. Our main course included crispy szechuan lamb (twice cooked crispy meat, tossed with red & green chilies), chili crab moo shu (blue crabmeat wok roasted with peppers, served with moo shu wraps) and szechuan fried rice (wok tossed long grain basmati rice with hot chili paste with a choice of vegetables, chicken or shrimp and/or a mix of all three). Next time, I will go for the hot garlic prawns, chili paneer, and the mirch (spiced chicken with curry leaves and red hot chilies). You can check out the menu here. For more information on the history of the restaurant and other locations, check out Chinese Mirch’s website.
