Underground Bar in NYC: The Back Room

If you are intrigued by the more underground historic-type bar, then I suggest you visit “The Back Room,” located at 102 Norfolk Street (near Delancey Street). Finding this place is quite an adventure, and will make you trip-out a bit as you have to walk through a dark alley to find the entrance; but once you make it through, you’ll have a nice surprise waiting for you. You will need to knock on the door for someone to let you into the bar, which is a large space with a Victorian interior, chandeliers, velvet paisley wallpaper, tin ceilings, a sliding bookcase and a covert phone. Don’t be surprised if your drink is served in a teacup, which represents the clandestine drinking during Prohibition. This place has gotten pretty mixed reviews, but I think it’s a pretty cool hang-out. Feel free to leave your comments if you’ve visited this spot.
